Destination Marketing Guelph (DMG) is a non-profit entity under the management of The Guelph Chamber of Commerce and working in tandem with the City of Guelph’s Tourism Services team. DMG is responsible for promoting the city of Guelph as an attractive travel destination while enhancing its public image as a dynamic place to live, work and play. 

Job Description

The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for creating and publishing various types of digital content, including but not limited to social media posts, blog articles, videos, infographics, and newsletters. The Digital Marketing Coordinator should have a strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO principles, as well as excellent writing and editing skills. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and have experience with content management systems, and social media platforms. A background in marketing, journalism, or a related field is preferred.

In this position, you will be expected to take direction from DMG’s Executive Director and collaborate with the City of Guelph’s Tourism Services team to develop content that aligns with established goals. You will also be responsible for creating engaging and informative content, including blog posts, social media posts, and videos. 

Digital Marketing Coordinator duties and responsibilities

  • Create and publish engaging content for various digital platforms including social media, blogs, and websites
  • Collaborate with DMG’s Executive Director and city of Guelph Tourism Services Team to develop content strategies that align with DMG’s overall mission, vision and goals
  • Remain current with tends and best practices to ensure content is relevant and effective
  • Produce high-quality multimedia content including images, videos, and infographics
  • Manage and maintain content calendars 
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of content and adjust strategies as needed
  • Ensure content is aligned with brand standards 
  • Work with and maintain relationships with external vendors 
  • Ensure all content is optimized for SEO and meets accessibility standards
  • On-site attendance of tourism-oriented events for live content development and implementation – weekends and evenings may be required 
  • Perform administrative tasks that support members and the organization
  • Role requires 35 hours per week in a hybrid work environment. Schedule to be coordinated and approved by DMG’s Executive Director. 
  • Laptop to be provided. 

Digital Marketing Coordinator requirements and qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Digital Marketing Coordinator or similar role
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and audiences
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for creating engaging and innovative digital content
