As students head home for the summer, a warm breeze brings Guelph’s locals back out and the patios are where they gather.
Guelph’s patio scene is nothing short of cinematic. Concentrated in the heart of downtown, each summer the sidewalks and parking lanes are transformed into communal cluster of picnic tables and sun-drenched dining spots surrounded by greenery.
By day, they buzz with the excitable chatter of friends and colleagues sneaking out for a sunny lunch or afternoon pint. By night, fairy lights glow softly overhead, and every bar hums with its own easy soundtrack. It looks, sounds, and feels like community—where smiles between strangers come easy and anyone who pulls up a chair feels like a local.
So, whether you’re looking to patio-hop with friends, share a late bite with someone special, or strike up a chat with someone new, take a seat here – Guelph’s patios are ready for you.

PATIO PINTS
Brother’s Brewing Company
Brothers is a go-to patio, day or night. With communal picnic tables and a laid-back vibe, this Guelph microbrewery was made for socializing. Whether you’re arriving with a crew or open to chatting with your neighbours, the welcoming atmosphere and nightly events make it easy to settle in. Good beer, great company, and an easygoing buzz, Brothers sets the scene for a patio night to remember.
Fixed Gear Brewing
Tucked slightly off the beaten path, Fixed Gear’s patios (yes, there’s more than one) are well worth the detour. At The Canteen on Edinburgh, you’ll find a laid-back patio with canvas shades, cold pints, and some of the best pizza in town. Over on Alma, The Tasting Room offers a different vibe, a hidden gem with a turfed courtyard surrounded by shipping containers, decked out with Muskoka chairs and board games. It’s family-friendly, easygoing, and the perfect spot to cool down with a crisp brew while the kids stay entertained.
Royal City Brewing
Out in Guelph’s East End, Royal City Brewing offers one of the city’s most sun-soaked spots. Its elevated stone patio is separated from the main beer hall by a massive garage door and once spring hits, that door rolls up and stays open straight through to fall (weather permitting, of course). The result? A bright, open space that blends indoors and out, with glass walls and sunlight pouring in from every angle. Whether you’re on the patio or inside the beer hall, if it’s a nice day, you’re basking in it. But don’t worry! They have umbrellas too.
The Wooly Pub
Housed in a charming redbrick, this local favourite blends the warmth of a friend’s home with the buzz of a neighbourhood hangout. Out back, a covered patio keeps you cozy even during a summer shower, while the front veranda is perfect for smaller groups. Swing by for a cold craft beer, stay for the elevated pub fare.
Baker Street Station
If a wrap around veranda is your patio vibe, you’re in luck—Baker Street has two. Also, set in a historic redbrick building, this downtown favourite offers both a ground-level patio and an upper balcony, perfect for soaking up the sun or catching a breeze. A go-to spot for lunch and after-work drinks, Baker Street serves up daily specials that keep the weekdays interesting. Come the weekend, it’s where folks gather to cool off, catch up, and raise a glass.
PATIO COCKTAILS & WINE
The Ward Bar at Spring Mill Distillery
Owned and operated by John Sleeman and his sons the Ward Bar is a cozy spot to enjoy small-batch gin, vodka, and whiskey in style. Inside, window seats overlook the Speed River, but for the full effect, grab a spot on the terrace patio where the breeze off the water pairs perfectly with one of their crisp, hand-crafted cocktails.
Standing Room Only
Famously known as Canada’s smallest bar, Standing Room is stepping outside for its first-ever patio season. With just 10 seats inside, the new outdoor setup offers a few extra places to kick back and enjoy owner and head bartender Doug’s wild, wonderful, and seriously delicious cocktails. Tucked in the heart of the Ward, this quirky spot adds even greater charm to one of Guelph’s most historic and character-filled neighbourhoods. Tiny space. Huge personality. Unforgettable drinks.
Two Faces Bar
Nestled beside Guelph’s Market Square, Two Faces Bar’s minimalist patio could be easy to overlook, but you’ll be glad you didn’t. Known for its curated wine list and passionate team, Two Faces is the place to discover new favourites. Their knowledgeable staff will help you find the perfect pour to match your summer mood. Pull up a seat, sip something special, and soak in the stunning view of City Hall. It’s a moment of bliss in the heart of downtown.
NV Kitchen and Bar
NV is a Guelph cocktail institution where craft, style, and atmosphere come together seamlessly. Talented bartenders serve up seasonal favourites day and night, straight to the custom-built patio lined with greenery, garden torches, and high-top tables. With a standout dinner menu and front-row views of downtown’s lively energy, it’s the perfect patio to get the party started.
Bev’s
Bev’s is one of Guelph’s newest cocktail spots—elegant, artfully styled, and effortlessly cool. Owner Jenna (but she will also answer to Bev) serves up seasonal spins on classic cocktails from behind the bar and now, out on the patio too. This hidden gem spills out through a garage-style door onto a cozy, industrial-chic lot on Beverly Street, the bar’s namesake. Step in, ask what’s seasonal, and enjoy one of Guelph’s most stylish new hideaways.

The vibe is relaxed and a little romantic—perfect for long dinners, good conversation, and lingering over that second round.
