Welcoming festival season in Guelph and area

Families, friends and communities gathering together to celebrate traditions, food and shared interests. Festival season is upon us! This time of year reminds us to revel in both our diversity and our coming together. 

There are so many opportunities to Gather In Guelph, and below we’ve highlighted a few not-to-be-missed events that are sure to bring everyone together. Happy festivaling! 

June 6-16: Guelph Pride – Spring

Guelph Pride’s spring events celebrate the 2SLGBTQI+ community with flag raisings, bike rides, crafting, a rave, puppy parade and job fair, a Pride in the Park event and more. Inclusivity, diversity and fun will be on full display throughout the city at various locations such as Wellington Brewery, Guelph Public Library and Guelph General Hospital. June 7-9: Guelph & District Multicultural Festival (GDMF)

The GDMF provides an affordable, accessible cultural experience that celebrates diversity and supports local community groups. This three-day festival is open to everyone, with free admission and parking at Riverside Park, face painting, live music and dancing and cultural performances. July 19-21: Hillside Festival

The three-day Hillside Festival supports artists from various backgrounds, including Indigenous, people of color, 2SLGBTQI+ and women. The not-for-profit event takes place at Guelph Lake and is a vibrant celebration filled with music, dance and arts that is dedicated to artistic expression, community engagement and environmental leadership. August 16-18: Riverfest Elora

Riverfest Elora is a three-day annual music and arts festival that delivers top tier music headliners, up-and-coming acts of all genres, local artisans, food trucks and craft brews. Held at Bissell Park, within a natural setting along the banks of the Grand River in Elora, this year’s event features the Violent Femmes, Fleet Foxes, John Ross and more! September 6-8: Eden Mills Writers’ Festival

The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival celebrates the power of words – whether written, spoken or signed – to ignite imaginations and reveal new worlds and ideas. Taking place in the village of Eden Mills, it is a celebration of literature in a warm, welcoming and unique setting – a pedestrian-friendly, outdoor event for readers of all ages. September 13-15: Guelph Jazz Festival (GJF)

The annual GJF event is renowned for its celebration of jazz and improvised music, as well as a  range of genres and experimental music forms. It features creative music by Canadian and international artists made accessible for everyone. This year’s line-up will feature exciting changes and returning favourites. The first wave of artists will be shared in late June at Guelph Jazz Festival.

November 1-9: Guelph Film Festival

The Guelph Film Festival highlights Canadian and international documentary films that inspire and provoke critical discussion – at least 50% of the films are Canadian, 50% feature female directors and 50% diverse directors. August 23-25: Ribfest 2024

Our mouths are already watering as we think about this perennial favourite fundraising feast! Ribfest, coordinated by the incredible local Rotary Clubs, invites prize-winning ribbers from the local community and as far as the American south.
